Still trying to hook this thing up. Many vacuum ports. Such annoy. Very emission era. So deleted. Also, the vent horn thing (circular thing at highers point of carb) doesn't want to cooperate with my air cleaner. Should I grind down the vent or cut a hole in my air cleaner?

I remember researching this thing months back as to what you could/should/should not delete - is that post lost to the mists of time?

I can't imagine taking like a half-inch off the port would hurt too much, unless that side indent is for retaining something. It comes down to how much it's supposed to be able to breathe, I guess - and how much you'd need to trim it. See if there's another version of the carb out there that varies, I guess.

I feel you man. The Holley I put on the Montego had a completely opposite throttle set up to the stock throttle on the Montego, huge pain.

I would say cut a hole in the air cleaner. more air typically means more power out of these guys.

That's my best guess.

It's proximate to the accelerator pump - vacuum-referenced jet control of some kind? In any case, it needs to breathe, but it's probably a lot more pressure sensitive than it is flow sensitive.

Will the hole stick out above the air cleaner?

I'm sure the first time he looked at all those ports he had the same look I had on my face when I placed the carb on the Montego the first time.

complete confusion

Really shouldn't matter. They have almost no function (someone correct me if I'm wrong) other than venting fuel in flooding scenarios. So all that will happen is that you'll spill your fuel a bit earlier. So it comes down to a question of value, as it will vaguely affect the resale value of both the carb and the air cleaner depending on which modification you choose to do.

So I'd say cut up the thing that has the least amount of value (presumably the air cleaner?).
